If you can control your thinking you can control your life. It is automatic. If you can control your thoughts it means you are in control of your life.
All the magic happens in the mind. You may not have control over a lot of circumstances or situations around you. But, if you can handle how you think about them then they will be under your control.
Your thoughts and feelings lead to your actions and determine the results you get. See, It all starts with your thoughts.
But, I will agree with you on how difficult it can be trying to control your thoughts considering how real and overwhelming circumstances are to us.
Let’s take a look at these 3 principles that will aid us to control our thoughts.
3 WAYS TO CONTROL YOUR THOUGHTS
1. SUBSTITUTE YOUR THOUGHTS
The human mind cannot completely go blank. You cannot be awake with a blank mind. At every point in time, there must be something going through your mind.
Your mind can hold only one thought at a time, positive or negative.
All you need to do is to substitute a positive thought in place of a negative thought whenever you’re thinking negatively.
You can apply this principle by deliberately thinking about something positive whenever you want to cancel out a thought or feeling that makes you angry or unhappy.
Instead of how bad the day was. Why not look for something funny about that day.
2. MAKE POSITIVE THINKING AN HABIT
Any thought or action that you repeat over and over will eventually become a new habit.
When you repeatedly react and respond positively, you take full control over your conscious mind.
Soon it becomes automatic and easy to think and act in that manner.
By using willpower and repetition, you develop new habits of thinking and acting. By applying this principle, you can become a completely positive person which will change your life.
3. DON’T FEED YOUR NEGATIVE THOUGHTS
Thoughts are like fire. The more you feed it, the more it burns.
It is what you feed that grows. When you stop feeding your negative thoughts, it dies.
We usually feed our negative thoughts by justifying wrong thoughts, belief and actions that we make.
When you always justify the reasons why you should be angry, it grows and gives you more reason why you should stay angry.
