Communication is one of the core ingredients for a healthy relationship. When this relationship happens to be a romantic one, a lack of communication will do little or no good. Research has shown that communication style goes a long way in predicting which couples will stay healthy. When there’s conflict in a relationship, proper and open communication is the key.

Recognize that all relationships have their ups and downs. Just as you don’t expect things to always go smoothly with your life, you shouldn’t expect your relationship to be at a continuous high. Show affection continuously
Here, we’re talking about physical affection. Physical affection has lots of benefits. It helps release feel-good hormones, it reduces blood pressure, it reduces stress, it is associated with high relationship satisfaction among others.
Showing physical affection is as easy as it sounds. It includes kissing, hugging, holding hands, cuddling etc. This helps build and maintain a healthy relationship.

Give your partner space
Having space is a relationship is one of the unrecognized ingredients to a healthy relationship. Being in a relationship is all about being close to your partner. However, getting overly close without giving each other space to thrive without the other might cause a loss of identity on either/both partners.
Using the porcupines as an example, two porcupines trying to keep warm will move closer to one another. However, they’ll prick each other with their spines if they get too close. The same thing happens in human relationships; though we want closeness, we also want space. So, learn to give your partner space when necessary.
Maintain your outside relationship
Unlike in movies where your one true love has everything you need from your partner, reality is different. We all know that no one person can give us all we need/want. Your partner might not be a fan of cricket, that doesn’t mean you should stop seeing the game with that one friend you normally see it with before you met your partner. There are so many things that are fun that you are your partner has not done before. As long as there is no harm in it, why not try it together.
